First of all, I made a mistake when I was typing in yesterday’s entry: I transposed the Japanese translations for elementary and high school. Thanks to Chikako Gotō for noticing it! It’s fixed now.

After a morning spent watching classes, I’ve decided to go for the elementary school job. Yes, it’s going to be hard work, but it should be enjoyable. It’s also well paid, which is (alas!) quite important for me at the moment.

Coincidentally, I read today that the British government is planning to employ unqualified staff to teach foreign languages. Sounds pretty much like my job! It seems like a good idea to me, to be honest. It’s widespread over here in Japan, another country with a historically poor level of foreign language ability.

Anyway, for the next few weeks, I get a holiday—a chance to catch up on sleep and personal projects. With any luck, I’ll get around to making a few improvements to my website.
