Under construction for Web 2.0

I was inspired by the story about Gap Inc. taking their websites offline for a month at a cost of $0.5m/day to renovate them (badly) in what they fondly imagine is a ‘Web 2.0’ manner.

Here’s a Web 2.0 ‘under construction’ icon for all those companies that just don’t get it:

under construction, web 2.0 style

(Anyway, Web 2.0? That’s so last week. It’s been deprecated. We’re on our way to the even shinier world of Web 3.0, apparently. Me? I’m waiting for Web 3.11 for Workgroups. They should have the bugs ironed out by then.)

Attention schadenfreude fans: Tieg Zaharia has taken the Gap story and run with it in his deconstruction of their new site.
