It means “a step” or “half a step”? How to identify the icon of samurai?

I must admit, I didn’t put a lot of thought into it: I just copied the arrow direction off the original. Although I redrew everything, it’s very close to the existing design. I spent most of the time looking for fonts that weren’t too different from the ones used in the JT posters—not entirely successfully.Xiangdian
