Latest iPlayer changes

The BBC have tweaked the iPlayer again, and I’ve used my lunch break to update my downloader to keep up. If you’re using the command-line version via Ruby Gems, you can update to version 0.1.17 right now by typing

sudo gem update iplayer-dl

Other options are on the project page. I’ll build the Windows GUI later tonight.

I only started using it a couple of weeks ago, and forgot to say thanks. It’s great to be able easily to get iPlayer stuff to the mp3 player or the tv.

    Recently every link stated…

“The programme file is not currently available. If it’s new, try again later”.

I though I was doing something wrong, but I hope your new updates fixes this.

I upgraded from v1.12 to v1.14 and now get the error below – what does it mean? How do I solve?

“Unable to parse the metadata for this programme.
As a workaround, you can use the -f option to specify a filename manually.”

Here’s what I was attempting to DL:

I just downloaded the iplayer grabber on my MAC OS X Version 10.6. Thanks Paul for creating this wonderful tool. I just tried to watch/download a programme and it thinks about it and then the message ‘unable to parse the metadata for this programme’. and nothing ever starts to download. I am in the US, so also changed the iplayer grabbers preferences settings to my UK IP address. What else do I need to do so that I can use the BBC iPlayer. I am really frustrated. Hope you can help. Thanks

I’ve been using the iPlayer Grabber (great product and saves me loads of time with mp3’s), but since I updated my Firewall last year , it won’t work and I get the ‘Parse metadata# message. How do you use the -f option to specify the filename manually? Thanks.
