Colloidal silver: quackery for credulous idiots
If there’s one thing that really annoys me, it’s quackery. Conspiracy theories can be entertaining; sometimes, they can be disturbing; occasionally, they are even true. But quackery can seriously damage your health—or your appearance.
One piece of dangerous pseudoscience that seems to be currently popular, especially in the more credulous corners of the internet, is colloidal silver.
Look at what the proponents claim for it:
Colloidal Silver is the only antibiotic known reportedly to kill all types of viruses, funguses and bacteria.
Well, no need to worry about vancomycin resistance then.
Colloidal Silver kills all viruses, precluding future mutations as it also kills the virus invaded cell within six minutes, and because of its catalytic nature Colloidal Silver is not affected in the reaction, continuing to kill other single celled pathogens nearby.
Good news! We can stop wasting money on HIV/AIDS research!
Colloidal Silver will react chemically with many of the 92 natural elements and compounds. While many of these compounds are toxic, pure silver is non-toxic. It acts only catalytically with the enzyme, or chemical lung of single celled organisms.
I’m pretty confident that any trained biochemist is going to have some issues with this statement.
Sounds too good to be true, right? That’s because it is.
None of this is to say that silver doesn’t have disinfectant properties. It does, and that’s why it’s being used in clothing to reduce odours. (Personally, I find hygiene to be equally effective. But I digress.) However, that does not mean that it is either safe or effective when taken internally.
In fact, this is what colloidal silver really does, if you take enough for it to have any effect. It turns your skin grey. Permanently.
Unfortunately, the charlatans who hawk this snake oil won’t tell you that. To them, batteries, silver and tapwater is a cheap way to profit, and they don’t care whom they discolour in the process.

you obviously know nothing at all about Colloidal Silver – or Colloidal Gold because if you did, you would not be writing all of this mindless bollocks about it. It will onlt turn your skin grey (aggria is the proper name for it) if you drink silver that is not pure, that means compounded with somehting else. If the CS is made using pure silver rods then there’s no chance of aggria occurring. A bit of advice – know your subject matter before speaking about it and making a bitch-ass of yourself as you have done here.Paul Battley

Yeah, and you can’t get pregnant standing up. I don’t think your contention is supported by chemistry or biochemistry.

You obviously have a brain, so why do you insist on making wild assumptions about Colloidal Silver (and more importantly, telling others what you assume) without investigating thoroughly or trying it yourself. COLLOIDAL SILVER does not change your skin colour, other forms of silver can do this, such as Silver Nitrate, but that is silver in COMPLETELY different form (i.e. much, much larger particles that stay around in the body – saying that Colloidal Silver can cause greying of the skin in the same way that other forms of silver can it is like saying that a bucket of water thrown on your head from 5 stories above can kill you because in the same situation a bucket of ice would .) Colloidal Silver is something that anyone can make effectively at home without the need to line ANYBODY’S pockets and is incredibly cheap to make – there is no need to buy it from anyone. There have been many, many self-funded independant scientific studies conducted by universities showing the effectiveness of Colloidal Silver against a whole host of viral, fungal and bacterial infections. Personally I haven’t had a single cold in 5 years of making and taking my own CS. Intelligent people have a right to examine the evidence for themselves and make their own minds up about what may be best for themMark Seddon

I have been as gullible as anyone in my attempts to find cures for various ailments, but I do observe, as do most humans, cause and effect. before scientific method let us really move forwards, it was the backbone of all technology. My brother had candida albicans (Thrush) so bad that the doctor sent him for an Aids test. when it came back negative the doctor lost interest! he could have prescribed Diflucanazole, a very effective anti fungal, but a bit expensive, so he gave out some ineffective mouth lozenges containing Nystatin. anyway, six months of elimination diet cured the problem. So what has this to do with colloidal silver? well, I suffer from Candida Albicans too, (Genetic disposition? environmental?) and control it also with diet. At least till I took some (commercially prepared) colloidal silver. after about 2 weeks my symptoms dissappeared (I had suffered for 10 years, most notably vicious, month long sore throats if i ate yeast encouraging food) and unless I eat cheese or vinegar for several meals in a row, i dont get any symptoms now. and the symptoms are very mild. I am absolutely convinced that the silver “cured” the condition. So would Diflucan, but good luck getting that (need about 2 week course, not a silly one dose pill. there appears to be no toxic dose, btw). I got no help from the medical profession with Candida, although it blighted my life, so pardon me if I dont dismiss self help. btw I poured the rest of the bottle of silver on my hair, and let it dry, and that relieved a condition of itchy scalp that had been driving me crazy for most of my life. That condition has returned after about 5 years, so im looking on the internet now, to see if I can make my own colloidal silver.

A few years ago a friend of mine was bitten by a dear tick, the result was he was diagnosed with lymes disease, very nasty if left untreated. The only thing his doctor could offer were antibiotics, which by her own admission would only hold the worst effects at bay, she advised him to seek alterative help. As I have been in the business for many years he came to me, and although sceptical took my advice and enbarked on a two month course of CS. Further medical tests have shown him to be clear of the lymes.Just for the record he skin is as pink and rosey as it has ever been, only high concentrations of CS taken regularly can cause greying of the skin,

Four years ago I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, and I became so ill that I thought I may have to give up work. I was in so much pain I struggled to get out of the bath and cried with pain when walking any distance. Although I was taking bucket loads of medication, including methatrexine, my stomach started bleeding because of the medication strengths, and so even though I was still in extreme pain I came off all medication.I decided to look at alternative medicines and cured myself by taking Colloidal Silver and wearing a Q-link pendant. I am now pain free and I know it works, I am living proof that we can cure ourselves naturally.
The big pharma guys don’t want to cure anyone, they want us to remain ill so that they can keep medicating us with rubbish. They make more money that way and have customers on medication for life.
I thank god that I found out about Colloidal Silver and the benefits and cures on Youtube, and I am grateful to those who have put up valuable information on this subject to help so many. I believe so strongly in this CS cure that I sell this product because it works.
You do not turn grey or blue drinking Colloidal Silver, the person who turned blue made his own silver solution with tap water (which is incorrect) and added other things to the mix, which is wrong. Colloidal Silver is safe when made correctly and the nano-particles of silver are very small.

Hi guys,Can I ask all you guys something except for Paul?
Would you like to buy some magic beans?
Think about it, cancer and HIV are independently researched all over the world by private companies and charities, many made up of people directly affected by these illnesses. They have nothing to do with pharmaceutical companies, they have tried these magic remedies. They may have medicinal qualities but so does a diet of fruit and vegetables – it’s not a cure.
No doubt you guys are all behind the depopulation/big pharma conspiracy too? That is hilarious. CS websites usually use this as a back story. You fucking idiots cannot see the blatant contradictions and out-of-context quotes that plague this type of nonsense.
They say that the evil big pharmas are only interested in making money from sick people, yet they claim these same big pharmas and the NWO (I love that one!) want to depopulate the earth by 90%...would that not defeat the purpose?
So, anyone for some magic beans?

Tell me something. If I had the cure for AIDS and cancer in my hot little hands right now, and had the means to mass produce and distribute it to the sick and dying, who would lose out? Who would NOT profit from a cure…...How about the Pharmaceutical companies making Billions a year on chemo theraputics, AZT and other AIDS drugs, as well as the numerous medications used to treat the side effects of these treatments. big drug companies fund groups behind plot to regulate colloidal silverthere has been an excessive and over exaggerated concerted effort to hinder the sales of colloidal silver products due to the fact that they have been proven and *documented in medicals books since 1914 that silver has been used as treatment of viral and bacterial symptoms. the fact that modern universities and research institutions that have found those same conclusions has raised and caught the attention of major pharmaceutical companies.
pharmaceutical companies loathe and hate any vitamins or sales of supplements especially strong competition from the colloidal silver industry, and if they have petitioned the us government to stop the sales of colloidal silver and if the could stop the sales of any vitamins health supplements like they did in europe
while there maybe a reason for concern of argyria, there are chemical free alternatives to the colloidal silver process that are state of the art and actually produce colloidal silver with higher ppm values without the use of chemicals.

I’d suggest checking out the documented scientific journals about it’s effectiveness. There are non-scientific sites like this:http://tuberose.com/Colloidal_Silver.html
